Spring Smoothie

More and more new facts are now becoming available about the health benefits of using spices in our food. With each and every one holding its own unique healing properties some more potent than others such as Turmeric! This ancient spice has gained world renowned praise for its natural anti-inflammatory benefits. Additionally, turmeric is known as a potent anti-septic, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial, 6 stars out of 5 for sure It may sound a strange combination to blend this sunshine yellow smoothie with black pepper, in fact this enhances the absorption of turmeric by 2000% making it one of the most effective all natural anti-inflammatory healers. Combined with cinnamon to regulate blood sugar levels and ginger as another anti-inflammatory adds a depth of warmth and sweetness perfect for the still cool yet warmer days coming ahead.

This smoothie is good, like really good! It is sweet from the banana and date, exhibits a slight spiciness, creamy with the smoothness of almond milk and nutty with the addition of almond butter and hemp seeds. Not to mention the incredible nutritional profile of healthy fats, protein, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Recipe
1 cup unsweetened dairy free milk of choice
1 frozen banana
¾  tsp powdered turmeric
1 fresh medjool date
1 tbsp hemp seeds
1 tbsp raw almond butter
1/2 tsp powdered cinnamon
A good pinch freshly black pepper
Your desired amount of your favourite Probiotic Foods supplement powder

Place all ingredients into a blender and blend together until smooth and creamy. Serve and enjoy!
