Celery juice & Probiotic Foods, the new power couple?

Chances are you’ve heard about some of the wanders of celery juicing! Celery juice has been dubbed as a ‘cure-all’ wonder remedy as well as a secret to ongoing health and wellness. That’s why we have been adding our Probiotic Foods and Green Barley Grass into our celery juice each morning!

Whilst celery by itself is not considered a “superfood”, word has gotten out about the amazing results people have been experiencing, thanks to the help of the “Medical Medium” and his series of best-selling books.

THE CELERY PLANT

If you take a closer look at celery, you might notice that the stems hold a resemblance to human bones. Not only does celery ‘look’ like bones, it contains a phytochemical composition of sodium that is approximately 21%, which is almost identical to the amount of sodium which healthy human bones are meant to store to be functional and strong!

THE HEALTH BENEFITS

Celery is packed full of nutrients and compounds that are beneficial for health and healing. Celery contains two potent antioxidants known as apigenin and luteolin, which are known for their qualities in fighting inflammation and a host of inflammatory diseases Celery is not only alkalising, enzyme-rich and immunity-boosting, but also jam-packed with essential vitamins and minerals, such as:

  • Folate
  • Sodium
  • Potassium
  • Magnesium
  • Vitamins B6, C & K

As a result of all this inherent natural goodness, this incredible vegetable is beneficial for treating and healing a long list of health complaints

Here’s a few more reasons why you should consider including celery juicing into your self care routine:

  1. Body Alkalising Benefits
  2. Gut Health and Digestive Support
  3. Cholesterol Lowering
  4. Reduces blood pressure
  5. Boost liver function
  6. Purifies the skin

THE HOW TO

While eating raw celery is also recommended, by juicing it you can get a much more concentrated amount of nutrients into your body in one go. Drinking celery juice on an empty stomach first thing in the morning is recommended wherever possible. We’ve been adding our favourite Probiotic Foods blend & Green Barley Grass into our morning celery juice too!

It’s also vital to ensure that the celery you use for your juice has been grown organically (without pesticides and herbicides). Unfortunately, celery regularly gets ranked as one of the “dirty dozen” vegetables that contain the highest presence and concentration of toxic chemical residues.

Source your celery from the local farmer’s markets whenever you can.  And on occasions when you can’t access organic or spray-free celery, be sure to rinse it well in a water and apple cider vinegar solution (add one cup of ACV to 3-4 litres of water) before you refrigerate or juice your celery.
